I used to organize our company's dinner dance every year, approx 250 people. Because it was free, people used to say they would go and then just not turn up - no prior notification so you could cancel the numbers, no they were just ignorant sods who couldn't care less. I think eventually the company tried to get the cost out of them if they didn't have a good excuse! Can't remember whether it worked or not.

I think people don't realise how much effort you have to put in to make a good event.

Sorry you seem to have had a really stressful time.

I'll survive, I'm starting to feel better now that it seems I'm not the only one who's received abuse for doing people a favour. :eek:
