Clark’s rim brake shoes/pads

Fitted these today. Very poor bolt head quality. Even tightening hand tight, the head of the bolt was almost mullered. Made in China, very poor; lesson learnt. Unfortunately everything seems to be made in China nowadays.

I've never had an issue. I use the silver road pads and their canti pad/carriers.

I've used Clarks brake blocks for a long time, no problems so far.
Did you get them from a reputable dealer/bike shop, or off of the interweb?
There are many counterfeit, dodgy knock offs about.

The ones ife used have been ok. Used a ring spanner, all neat and tidy.

Got them from Merlin. They are on now and will be ok for a long time hopefully. Just hope they don’t need further tightening or are mullered that be bad to get them off in the future.

Never had a problem with Clarks brake pads or cables, is your spanner a loose fit. Like @Drago suggests use a ring spanner or in my case an old 'Dumbell' spanner with a six flat hole rather than a 12 flat 'ring' type

Aye I see, @fossyant, I use older style ones on my road bikes but with those on anything with V or Canti brakes, poorly fitting/worn Allen keys such as those on 'multitools) will screw those up really quickly.

Used them years back and were always good quality especially for their price point.
I have some cheap Allen keys and it would be more their fault than soft metal bolts.
I’m slowly building up park tool stuff for common jobs.

My main multi tool is Park, then I have a quality set of long hex keys as well.
