I've got a CB Legend (2006 vintage) and the bottom bracket is rumbling a bit. I'd like to have a go at replacing it myself, so: what size and type of replacement do I need, and any hints 'n' tips about the job?

Cheers

It will depend on what chainset it's using as much as the frame. A quick google suggests it's a standard English thread 68mm Shimano square taper, assuming it's using the Nexave T300 chainset that seems to be standard on the Legends I found googling. Doesn't say what axle length you need but the ever helpful Sheldon Brown reckons on a 117.5mm. It might be worth measuring the old one before buying or have a look on the Shimano site.

For removal and fitting of square taper you'll need a BB tool and a crank extractor. It's a fairly easy job if you take your time. The Park Tool site is pretty good for instructions. Chainset removal and fitting. BB removal and fitting.
