That was my first proper bike 'cept mine was blue and rebranded by the now defunct London Bicycle Company as a 'Londoner'. Actually mine must have been a year younger than yours, wiennman 604s, Stronglight 49D, Campag Tipo hubs and Wolber Super Champion rims. Lovely. It died when I went through the windscreen of a drunken coppers Audi. It went underneath the car and stopped him trying to drive over my prone body to get away so it saved my life really.

Mickle! I hope that copper had his ars kicked and lost his job. You were sure lucky, but you must have been gutted to lose that bike. Love my old Claude.

Nope, the coppers who attended the scene 'lost' the paperwork, he was never prosecuted.
