Claud Butler.

I have just acquired a Claud Butler. Is there any way to accurately date it? I can’t seem to find any serial numbers.

I would suggest 50-60's
But log on to Retrobike forum and there is a thread about Claud Butler frame numbers

Tricky. Thats a Nervex lugged model, which would makemit 50's or 60's. However, thr fork crown is the early 70's onwards pattern, and the polymer Simplex mech is mid 70's, so there may be some mixing and matching going on, which may not be surprising if it is a 60+ year old frame.

My gut call is late 50's, possibly a Cordon Bleu frame. However, the head badge rivets are wrong for that period, so we can be sure, what with the eclectic spec, that its been messed about at some point.

Are you sure there is no serial number stamped under the BB? CB went bust in the mid 50's and data from that era scarce, butnits worth a look.

The tang hanging down from the dropout to guide the wheel in is before my time so deffo before the 70's
