No, not the weather but the metaphorical distance that should come between a cyclist and a passing vehicle.

So odd then that a Black BMW X4, reg EFC 563, should brush my arm with the near-side wing mirror this morning.

At the next roundabout I was able inform the driver, politely of course, that he was a little too close.

"You were too far out" he replied.

So, its my fault. Consider me told!

What where you doing so far out annoying road tax paying car drivers? Very inconsiderate of you. I think in future you should stick to riding in the gutter or on the pavement.

I had similar last night. I was cycling in the bus lane when a BMW beeped its horn and then swiped by me so close that I could rap my knuckles on his passenger window. I think this spooked him as he braked and swerved all over the place. I then left him behind in a very long queue of traffic.

And then later on as I filtered to the front of a right turn lane at a red traffic light, a car - two cars back in the right turn lane - accelerates as the lights turn green, passing me on his left and the car in front of him on his right so that he can get ahead of the cars queuing to go straight on at the lights. I'm really not sure how he missed hitting me. He also nearly mounted the reservation in the centre of the road as he crossed the junction, so tight was the gap that he squeezed through to get ahead of the cars going straight on. But then, this was Brixton/Streatham borders, so only to be expected I suppose.

I had a TK Maxx Electric Lorry (only one of it's kind) brush my arm whilst passing this morning, to say I was livid was an understatement. I even moved left into the gutter as I saw him coming over my shoulder

Caught up with him at the red lights 100m down the road (I know what was the point of that) and the guy feigned deafness at first and then claimed he didn't know what I was talking about.

Wrote to TK Maxx to let them know that their supposedly "green icon" would give them a very bad image if it happened to knock down and *shudder* kill someone.

I usually find BMW drivers to be pretty damn good (well, the newer, more expensive ones anyway!)....Audi drivers can be morons though.

Had one pass too close, I slapped the rear window (barely), he stopped, I just said something like "good one!". He then seemed a bit lost for words, told him he was on film and he says back "oh, err, well good. It'll show how much of a 'twit' you are" then he drove off as I laughed and went "oohhHHH!". ;)

But yeah, most of the BMWs on my commute would wait behind for some room - the advantage of the car is that they can make up any lost time if they really want to.

They can. But to even the score ..

I have had two Audis hold back and wait for me .. both times, I was approaching a pinch point so did a check behind before going for primary; saw the car with nothing behind it, figured I had time to let it pass before going for primary so just eased up a bit, few seconds later start thinking "come on, pass then you peskily pest", check again, and get wave from car driver indicating they'll wait and I should continue. So I did, thanked them, rattled through the pinch point quick as I could, thanked them again, moved over to let them pass, saluting them as they did. They did a text book overtake giving me plenty of room and waved goodbye. All good.

Thinking about it, it could have been the same person each time: it was the same bit of road on an estate, albeit on different days and at different time of day. All cars and cagers look alike to me.

Actually, that's only two (maybe one) nice people in Audis so maybe the score's not really even after all.

We get passed uneventfully by hundreds of vehicles each time we go out; the problem is it only takes one @sshole to cause trouble.

Golf ball gun, it's the way forward !

I saw that

My son is currently trying to work out how to adapt an Airzound and put a small 'bb gun' on the hbars instead. Obviously, I frown on this type of endeavor.

Just you make sure you don't offer to test it.
