Cleat Angle/ Crank Rub

I've had an annoying squeak for a while from my bb area intermittent then constant then intermittent again. I've finally worked out what it is  With my left cleat at the desired angle (toe out) my foot drifts (floats) further occasionally and my ankle rubs slightly against the crank.
Can I straighten my cleat slighty without causing problems? I don't want to move the cleat in (foot out) as that has caused me problems in the past.

Thanks,

HLaB

You can do what you like with the cleats but I think it will annoy the hell out of you - you'll find that you can tell that the float is restricted more on one side than the other - if your natural position is slightly toe out then you'll have to live with it - mine is and it had never occured to me until i got a bike with black cranks - it's amazing how soon they got highlighted with silver wear marks! Though I have to say I've never associated an audible squeak with it!
