cling film, the pros use it…

i had a tweet from wiggo saying that he rode 5hrs yesterday and it was due to cling film

subsequent tweets revealed that it is worn over sock but under shoe…

Its nothing new, already been posted in the forums in the past, also use it to cover your helmet too in inclement weather. Maybe Wiggo's been having a look round our forums on top tips to keep feet warm and dry.

Does the cling film keep your feet warm or dry or both? Rode last night and the last couple of miles my feet were frozen; I was wearing Nike dri-fit socks I use for running in Shimano shoes (for MTB'ing really), but I guess your feet don't move as much relative to running.

Had a fancy dress party many moons ago when my brother-i-l turned up wearing cling film and nothing else. He brought a spare roll for running repairs when he needed the loo. Now if only I could find the picture.

I use those blue elasticated plastic overshoe things from the local swimming pool (proffed a good handful ages ago) over a couple of pairs of socks. Combined with overshoes they always keep my feet warm and dry

I've used sandwhich bags on my feet before and they were fine.

With regard to Cunobelins clingfilm tale, a teacher told us of how he was responsible for sex education at a previous school and crisp packets had been mentioned as being used. I don't think he'd have made it up but can't be sure they weren't pulling his leg.
