First off, I should say that I already have standard mudguards on my Thorn xTc that do the job perfectly well. However, the biggest faff in dismantling the bike to go in my Tardis bike bag is dealing with all the fiddly nuts and washers involved in taking those mudguards off (and the reverse process for the 'mantling'). I wouldn't like to tour without any, given my luck with the weather and the occasional need to ride off-Tarmac.
So I was wondering about using clip-ons or some such: does anyone have any experience of clip-on mudguards that will fit 26" x 1 1/4" tyres? This would make the bagging-up and de-bagging process much easier (I can get away with swiveling the luggage rack from one of its two twin points of contact). The only ones I've found online so far seem designed either for mtb set-ups (that look to bulky to use with a rack) or slim-line road tyres.
