Attached some shimano A530s to my new Tricross yesterday so set of to work this morning a bit nervy . Anyway following the River Teign along the path down by the quay and its in flood , burst banks . So slowly going along in about a foot of water i hit a hole and go down to my right in slow motion and SPLASH im swimming . I was however unclipped immediatly , dont know how . So there i was at 7 am pissing myself laughing though you would never have known as i was soaking dripping wet but i now know Ortlieb panniers really are waterproof unlike my self !

I was going to say, nearly everybody has had a clipless moment. Not like that though

Which proves my point that lifejackets should be compulsory on bikes.

All due respect. Not many people would test their panniers so thoroughly.

Perhaps we should have an award for the most original clipless moment. I reckon Jerry is in the lead.

I've never had a clipless moment on the road. I did have one in the lounge when I first got the Bianchi and was trying my new Look Keos. Balanced the wrong way and fell into the Christmas tree!!

As long as I breathe, I attack.
arf arf !!

I cant beat that but my best one ...

Coming up to a mini roundabout i see a car coming who has right of way but has enough time to get through if i slow down ....

I slow to a crawl and see the car has slowed down so i slow even further , wobble , wobble OOhh S**t ! the car has stopped and i have too with no time to get a foot out i keel over then the car drives through .

I end up cycling 8 miles with blood running down my leg from a nice bit of road rash

THat really is spectacular Jerry. And as a fellow Ortlieb pannier user I can only thank you for so thoroughly testing the manufacturers claim, so I don't have to.

I've been pretty lucky with clipless moments (touches wood, crosses fingers) but I had a pretty funny one a few years ago. I was out in the lanes of CHeshire aboutan hour's ride from home (in South Manchester) when I needed a pee. Really needed a pee. I was using some Wellgo pedals and cleats (Look delta clones) which I never quite go the hang of. Anyway I pulled into a field and couldn't unclip. So I carried on riding into the field all the while trying to unclip and failing. IN the end I just had to let myself fall over in order to get out of the pedals! I swear the cows in the next field were laughing at me. I bought some Shimano pedals that afternoon!

I had mine in Huddersfield town centre. Trying to get through the traffic to get to the front of the queue for when the lights went green. The gap became too small, so I just decided to stop there, realised i was in pedals and fell right onto my elbow. The dude in the car just looked disguted at me while I acted like a turtle stuck on his back as my feet were still clipped in and I was struggling to release. I have no idea how many other people looked and saw as I didn't dare even look into any other cars for fear of ridicule.

It was right when I had started my daily commute, so laughing all the way home about it took my mind off the 3 mile hill I climb

My best one was just after I had turned left at a cross roads which is at the bottom of a slight slope. I rapidly changed down to tackle the slope and the chain fell off of the inner chainring and I suddenly lost power on an uphll rise. Before I knew what had happened I was on my right side in the middle of the road right in front of two very pretty young ladies who politly asked if I was OK. I was to embarrassed to answer other than fine upon which they drove off  :shy: . When I got home I found that although I had not torn any clothing I had a lovely case of road rash on my right elbow.

I have had a couple, one similar to Headgardener, the second was after a commute in the dark one night I swooped into a dark and unlit carpark feeling good and pumped, as I slowed down a car started up and turned its headlights on, I was so surprised I looked over to it and came to a stop, oops, fell over sideways landing heavily on my knee. The car just drove off leaving me thinking that the driver must be laughing all the way home

First ever Time Trial...
One Foot Clipped in ....
Thought the Starter had a hold of my bike clipped in other foot and promptly fell as the Timekeeper announced 15seconds
Quickly got up and made the off leg seemed warm, it was the blood running down from cut knee.....

Didn't put me off completed the whole season....
Funny never did happen again.
