Close pass by a driving student... being professionally instructed

I was going along the road, looked to overtake the bike in front and moved out of the bicylce lane, it was fairly clear, but there was a car coming up behind, I started to move and the car did a close pass. I yelled "Oi". The instructor then proceeded to tell me that I had the cycle lane to cycle in.

Do I put up the video and name/shame?

Do a Cunobelin and write to all driving instructors in the area saying you've forgotten which one it was, but with a description of the car to make it very obvious .

The video might clarify the situation. It sounds as though you pulled out in front of the car but that might be the way you phrazed the comment.

I'd report the instructor for incompetence; if they get that bit of Highway Code wrong who knows what else they're failing to get right.

Up to you, but be prepared to account for your own actions. When changing lanes it's your responsibility to ensure it's safe to do so.
Doesn't matter now, memory card corrupted

I had checked, it was safe, in the end I never left the cycle lane and braked quite considerably.

Sometimes that happens to more expensive cameras too.

I have found that it helps if one indicates when passing another bicycle.
Some motons just expect you to fall into single file to allow them to pass first.

There's a local one ("Z Plus", no, really), whose instructors I've seen yakking on hand held mobiles whilst driving in the city centre.

Mine sometimes does this, the two causes I found were batteries that could be bumped and would lose connection, and most recently an SD card that became unreliable. Both easily sorted, thank goodness.

Mine did it once. Slapped it into the computer re-formatted the card as FAT 16 and no more issues. (Some better camera my well use FAT 32)
