The driver just had to squeeze through a small gap, passing me too close.
The ensuing conversation was a bit surreal:
Him: "How much room do you need on a bike?"
Me: "About 6 feet" [Should have said 8 really]
Him: "You had loads of room"
Me: "Highway code rule 163 ... read it."
Him: "Well I'll tell you what t'do, get into t'middle o't'lane like you should do."
I thought I had been, but checking back I see that I had moved to the left to avoid hazards in the road. He's right, though, I should go round the outside of the hazards, not the inside.
He was correctly advising me to move out to prevent idiots overtaking where it is not safe. What does that make him, then?
