Timely post. I just got made redundant at work so my plan this summer is to do several expeditions, one being a coast to coast. Cannot make up my mind between the sustrans C2C route which you've just done, or the "Way of the Roses". I think I am swithering towards the WOTR. Or maybe if time allows, do both! One each direction....

A few silly questions then ;)...............

What kind of bike did you use?
Any problems getting BnB or did you camp?
Was it harder or easier than you expected?
Are you a super-fit 21 year old or a seen better days almost 50 year old (like myself )?

Used a Hybrid a Giant CRS 3, B & B was sorted out a few weeks before, stopped at Greystokes for the first night and then at Alanheads on second, would say book in advance and also at pubs for food. I am 38 and around 13 1/2 stone and found it fairly easy one or two hard sections but once you have done Hartside you can do anything.
