I have been using a similar system since 1969 ( when I passed my driving test). Then, it was called "a pair of eyes" for the prevention system and "a brake pedal" to avoid a collision. It has never let me down.

But would you have run Hitler over when he was a child?
But on a serious note - I worry that such systems may tempt drivers to concentrate even less than they already do, on the premise that the cars electronics now takes care of all that stuff. And no matter how good the car is at last minute braking, would it spot a child running down a path towards a road 200m ahead, and adjust speed accordingly.
I agree with you on that but it is only an assist system meaning to help the driver not take all the credit for breaking. I see it in a similar way to ABS taking away the need of the driver to use cadence braking in an emergency and with some early systems I had the same doubts but on modern cars it can be a life saver.
