I DID IT !!!!!! ......................in 1981 along the M.56 Me and a friend had our tyres let down and the valves taken out ( remember them ) so the quickest route we thought was to walk along the M.56 to get home,sadly the copper in the early two door Range Rover ( remember them ) said get off at the next bridge,oh the good old days !

Hey - you don't know how glad I am to see you post this - was beginning to think I was the only one mad enough to own up to it...
though you still hold the "in the UK" title - at least someone is madder than me.

They were head down (helmetless) and 'buzzing' along at all of about 25mph!

I used to cycle on the M60 when they were building it a Worsley. That must have been about 1968. I had a steel BSA "racer" that weighed a ton.

Whilst I was cycling over the M6 earlier today I remembered that I have cycled the M6 just in Belarus. It had a good wide hard shoulder and 4 lanes each way at one point but 'twas not worth trying to hold your breath between each vehicle passing - there weren't enough of them for 1 lane let alone 4!
