Jerusalem !! Ah... Schooldays.

Baggie short trousers, jumpers for goalposts, throwing caps into flower bed, wooden desks with ink wells, ink pellets.... detention.

'I've won the Commonwealth Games Gold Medal!'

'So what, I've got my cycling proficiency badge.'

This has to be the worst, least interesting waste of time since the Ryder Cup nonsense last week.

grr , as i've said on other forums

lohag is about the british empire

not england, which jerusalem is about !!! it doesnt even sound english, it sounds like something an american would sing .......

( still, the version by the fall is the one i'd pick  )

Jerusalem isn't just about England...read yer Blake again!

"And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountains green
And was the holy lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen

And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among those dark Satanic mills

Bring me my bow of burning gold
Bring me my arrows of desire
Bring me my spears o'clouds unfold
Bring me my chariot of fire

I will not cease from mental fight
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand
'Til we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land
'Til we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land"

?
seems pretty england to me .... i guess i love it for the 'satanic mills' , makes me think of 'home' in t'north

Oh yes, but Blake was a mystical - he saw angels flying above London on his way to work . He was writing about the human condition and his dark satanic mills weren't in Bradford, they were more likely churches anywhere.

yeah, but it still is refering that jesus visited england.. not scotland or wales..

and since time team had the episode talking about how phoenicians still traded with cornwall, then it must be true

however

its still better than hope and glory which is about the british empire, so britain not england and empire , not commonwealth ;)
