Thanks all for the input.

I went to Evans the other day to have a look, they had the Fuji Tread 1.1 - and for what's supposed to be a 'heavy' AVB bike it seemed light enough to me, however, I'm still waiting on my C2W vouchers and am away next week so didn't reserve one, and I think (looking at their website) that its now sold in my size. I did see the Arkose and have to say it looks pretty nice (and the pics above certainly look good) - its toward the upper end of my budget. Thanks Smutchin for the details on AVB vs CX, I pretty much figured most of that out from various reviews/promo blurb but very helpful to hear it from real world experience, also agree on the gears - the numbers you've given are very helpful.

I think I'll be back to Evans in the next couple of days to put a deposit down, I'll ask them if I can take a closer look at the Arkrose 2 (the Arkrose 1 might possible, its SORA - should I be too worried about this?) the Norco Search S2 (although it's not go a Carbon Fork as far as I can tell).

Decisions, decisions...

Well I went back to Evans and they still had the Fuji in my size so decision made! Picked it up yesterday, managed to spend £200 on accessories without even getting any clothes, but at least sorted for Helmet, mudguards, lights, pump, tubes etc! Looking at one of the Planetx bundles to sort me out for clothes:

or

Thanks for everyones advice. I got out on the bike last night, just 5 miles, but felt good to ride and definitely feel like I've made a good choice.
