I tend to say this a lot on here whenever I hear some worry, but have a look for the free cycling training in your area and book some up for her. I'd been cycling a little while around London when I took my training and it really helped my confidence and my how I cycle.

I think this helped to ease the worry others were feeling about me being a new cyclist in London too.

Saw a kid at school today with proper good lights on their bike: Cateye EL530 and TL1100 on the back. (Not necessarily what I would choose but certainly not skimping on the lights for their child's bike).
