Hi, I am new to Scotland and this group. I want to know if it is possible to commute from Bonnybridge to Glasgow along the canal tow path.
Also, are electric bikes allowed on canal tow paths.
Thanks in anticipation

Legal electric bikes, which most sold in shops are, are legally the same as push bike.

So if it's legal to ride a push bike in a given location, it's legal to ride an ebike.

Absolutely, go for it! Just remember that canal paths are shared use - play nice with the walkers, especially on the narrow bits at Twechar.

Depending on where you're going in Glasgow, you may save some time by coming off the canal in Kirkintilloch and heading down through Lenzie to Stepps. Cycle route into town from there.

Ok I will be nice. I'm going to city centre (near the bus station) so I will check a map to see your suggestion. Thanks!

The canal path is in surprisingly good nick at the moment. I bail off the canal at Balmuildy Road, cut through Bishopbriggs via the park then onto Kirkintilloch Road having missed the worst of the traffic and most of the unpaved section of the canal.
