Cycling is never going ot be the most fashionable of commuter wear, but I passed someone in particularly discordant attire today.

Flat bar bike, and the (female) rider was fully kitted out in black and high viz, jacket leggings and gloves, all looked the part, someone dedicated to cycling. It was all offset by a pair of brown calfhigh boots with buckles and tassles! Just did not go!

Other than white shorts and a pink bike ;) anyone else seen any interesting commuting attire?

I had a friend who used to cycle to/from uni and/or work. He hadn't learnt to drive and couldn't afford a car (a post-grad student) - so he cycled round Cambridge as his primary/only form of transport.

During the winter, he used to cycle in a full length coat (the sort I remember my dad wearing in the snow when commuting by train). The coat had a single split that allowed its to fall either side of the back wheel - why it never caught in the wheel is a mystery to me....

I saw a kid at school, just before getting on her bike suddenly whipped on a pair of trendy leg-warmers. I thought that was actually quite a good idea for kids who don't want to wear those leg bands to keep their trouser leg out of the chain. (Sort of updated sock!)

as i said in another thread, my gf has lately taken to wearing loose fitting flat soled boots that come a third of the way up her calf, so she simply tucks her jeans into those.

i've been known to use hair bobbles as until i got to uni, my legs were a bit thin for cycling clips (still are but flared jeans pad them out a bit ;)
