I am looking for a commuter hack that I can leave locked at a railway station. This is a rural station so probably not the same levels of theft as say a London station

It needs to look unnickable i.e would prefer to avoid the known names and not look expensive.
Would prefer drop handlebar roadie as I would like to use it as a trainer for the road riding I predominantly do so it needs to be able to handle typical solo training rides i.e. up on the pedals Intervals and a bit of turbo training without things going ping every ten minutes.
Budget - Would prefer something cheap but it is debatable my thinking is along the lines of perhaps this could be a disposable bike every 18 months or so.

I have heard good things about the btwin range at decathlon and the carrera range at Halfords and it appears you can get a half decent roadie, however what is the longevity like?

Many thanks for your help.

Do not fall into the trap of thinking that being an unknown brand name does not stop an opportunist thief. If it's locked up with flimsy cable locks they will have it away, what ever the bike is or looks like.

What ever bike you get you will need to lock it up with at least 2 very good locks.
One of those a sold secure D-Lock.

Ian the attachment of a good D lock or three is a given. Even though the location is fairly rural it still has its fair share of scrotes.

Indeed.
The rural stations are easier to nick bikes from as there is less people around. Not that people do anything to stop thieves whilst in the act anyway.
I know from experience, having a brand new Carrera nicked after 2 weeks..:cursing:

Sorry to hear that it would be so nice if people just left other peoples stuff alone. I suppose that the hard times we are in it will just get worse
