Any suggestion on how I can get someone to make a complaint to the police about me. Follows on from this

Now receiving regular verbal abuse from a person who claims I ruined his new £140 trainers that night. Told him to report it to the police but he's reluctant to do so. Possibll because he'll have to explain why he was trying to get into someone elses property.
For me its to late to do anything(about what he was doing). Having spoken to the police they may be able to do something if he makes the complaint.

He still has slight traces of the dye even now.

I'd tell him to complain to the police or piss off.

Make a complaint to the police about his abuse. I did that about someone who promised to "make my life hell" (because I helped break up his mates' crime gang), results: restraining order, community service, lost his job, evicted from his house and his girlfriend dumped him.:biggrin:

His verbal abuse I can get by with. Its just the thought that he'd actually follow through on what he keeps on saying he's going to do.
IE, walk in to the local police station & complain that whilst attempting to force entry into private property, he was found & marked in the food dye. As a result his £140 pair of trainers were ruined.

Are you concerned he is going to sue you for damage to property? You have a right to use reasonable force to prevent somebody from committing a crime. Spraying him with dyed water is hardly force anyway...the police will laugh him off.

Could a counter-claim be made for trespass...?

tell him you are going to compensate him and to come around at 6pm tomorrow night and collect it from the shed. wait for him, lock him in. then phone the police and tell them the person who you caught breaking into your property has come back and is back in the shed and would they mind popping around to arrest him, when they pull up, run out and unlock the shed so they don't know you falsely imprisoned him.

job done.

or just tell him to come around and get the £140 and arrange a time and then tell the police to turn up at the same time.

People NEVER follow through with what they say they're going to do when they threaten like that. Tell him to do it or shut up or else. If he comes out with it again, bring your forehead down very sharply on the bridge of his nose and REALLY ruin those £140 trainers. He can't say he wasn't warned. I know it's easy for me to sit here and say this and you might be fearful of repercussions, but he's a talker, not a do-er and you won't be bothered by the tosser again, I'd be fairly convinced.

But be prepared to have his company for a looooooong time. The police are normally as useful as an anchor on a bicycle in those situations.

So the police know how he got the stains on him but claim they can't do anything about it?

"Oh yes sir, I know he was trying to break in to your shed but we can't do a thing about it."

If that's how it went I'd be on to all the newspapers and tv stations to see if one of them was interested in telling that story. With all the bad press MP's are recieving at the moment you'd like to think that yours might want to take up your case for you as well.

As Hover Fly says, he's now attempting to intimidate you in to parting with money, the police can't say that's no concern of theirs.

Alternatively, are you more than capable of giving him a good kicking?

Why would you want to encourage him to make a complaint against you?

If you have stood up for yourself protecting your shed then stand up to these threats of intimidation. Either deal with it through the police ie make a complaint of harrassment against him or deal with it yourself. Did you report the intial burglarly attempt on your shed? If not that is why he is now targetting you for his trainers. Tell him if he continues to harass you, you'll report him to the police for burglarly, harassment and extortion with threats and tell him that his trainers he wore when he burgled/attempted to burgle your shed have now got unique dye on them from your fire extinguisher will interest the police greatly. This is the best approach.

However if you don't fancy involving the police then tell him if he doesn't leave you alone then you'll make sure that his crummy trainers are the least of his worries . He's hardly going to fess you up to the police for ruining his trainers if you can nail him for burglary with them! Sounds like he's a bit dim.

Some time ago I had some local teenagers 16-17 yr olds who thought it funny to bang really hard like drums on our front door and run away. They did it several times early evening and late at night. It was becoming a real nuisance and TBH quite frightening especially when they started shouting abuse as well. We had never met these scrotes or had any contact with them whatsoever.

After about a fortnight, having just had another incident the 3rd or 4th I think, we were at our wits end as we had been discussing whether we were going to call the police as it had gone beyond a joke to go through all their procedures and parlarver where in all likelihood nothing would be done and even if the scrotes were caught they would not be punished, or try and speak to the scrotes themselves, or hope that they would stop. Anyway as we were getting ready to go out shadows appeared at our front door and heavy whispering, it was almost dark outside, they did it again. We were a just a little frightened to say the least and stunned. A few moments went by and I thought F***! I wasn't going to tolerate this any longer. The next thing I flung open the door and chased after them. I must have run for about 400m through some nearby woods eventually catching one of them and bringing him down. I was ready to give him a hiding and he knew it. He or is mates won't be doing that again is all I can say. The adrenalin was really flowing. Then one of his mates who'd been just infront of him turned and came at me with a golf club. I went for him as well shouting something at him that made him think twice plus I was rather angry. He fled. The other two just kept on running like the cowards they were. I have never seen them again. They know not to show their faces around our area again. Some times you just have to meet them on their own terms .
