First post so firstly hello 
Looking at getting a Felt QX 80D or a QX S85 but i'm struggling with the different specs on the different models, Alivio versus Deore etc. Apart from the differing prices, what are the benefits of the higher specs? I understand that they're better quality but is it really necessary to go with the best you can afford for general riding or is it more of a case that we buy the best we can afford because 'we can' and it gives us a perception of a better bike makes you a better rider?
