Fastest commute in this morning, and it's not school holidays till next week, almost 17mph for my 15 mile treck. Also dipped under 14 stones for first time in years.

didn't have access to computer during ride, it was phone in pocket, and wonder if me not looking at speeds etc made it quicker? I was trying reasonably hard, but not near 100%.

Well done. Maybe try it again and see if it does the same?

Nice pace indeed. Well done.

I also nearly hit 17mph avg (16.94) for my 18 mile commute.
My fastest time of the year so far.

Cracking pace. What is the route like in terms of gradient? Maybe it was because you were desperate to look at your computer

About 1100 feet ascent, 650 descent.

Will be going home the ling way via Bamford, Hathersage and a couple of climbs up to Foxhouse and Owler Bar, only done that route once before so will see if that's better without knowing how I am doing!

Will feel slow again when out with club for second time tomorrow.

I generally ride much quicker without a computer as I am striving to reach my cruise speed, then adding a little just in case I get home and find I was slower.

its daft, as i got rid of it to help me to actually take it easy...

Well I came back the long way, 35 miles, one or two decent hills, and 20 minutes faster than the other time I did it 2 weeks ago. 15.6 mph coming back. About 2500 feet of climbing cyclemeter said.

replacement computer should arrive tomorrow, will see if the improvement continues.

Got overtaken by one guy on the way out to Ladybower, but saw him again in a layby on phone at top of climb out of Hathersage, so hopefully he didn't get too far infront. I only started to push a bit once I knew I was well on the way back!

I don't know if this counts or not. But today (the 20th) while I was on my ride after the light at the intersection I was stopped at turned green. I was able to hit a speed of 30MPH (okay 29.7MPH), I would have liked to have seen the look on the face of the driver of the pickup truck behind me when he realized how fast I was going.

I use Edmondo, on my HTC desire, kept safely in my rucksack - so it is nice to look at when I have stopped to see the highs and lows of the journey.

Today I was pleased to see I hit a top speed of 26mph for half mile duration. I think if I was looking all the time it would put me off enjoying the ride

I abandoned the tyranny of the bike computer years ago. Ever since its taken me as long as its taken me going as fast as I go.

I find it strange not using a simple cycle computer. I see it as driving a car with a broken speedo. I only glance at it occasionally but I like to know it's there. It is also of great benefit when following a route that gives directions in distance (after 200 meters turn right.....)

Sitting waiting for shitty link to send computer back, playing on mapmyride, and discovered that route home yesterday had 2 cat 4 and one cat 3 climb,

Will try and see if I can find a cat 2 that's local enough to be my next test, Winnat's I think too steep for me,

The only time I use a speedo in a car though is to check I am not breaking the speed limit - Im not likely to be doing that at the moment on my hybrid
