Connecting iPad to interactive white board

I'm guessing there are IT knowledgeable people on here so here goes ...

Have had an iPad for a few years but used it more for management that actual teaching. I'm thinking now I should branch out!

The wifi/network can be tricky, so it looks like a VGA cable. However, spending £35 on one seems steep! Is it worth it? Will it change my life? Is there a cheaper option?

You can get cheaper options that work from ebay / Amazon. Our whiteboards are all hooked up to Apple TVs so the iPad screens can be projected wirelessly from anywhere in the room. Teachers seem to like it

Will it transform your teaching, only you can judge that.

A search on each only reveals genuine Apple products at mostly full price.

I have one of these http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC552ZM/B/apple-vga-adapter in a box somewhere. I no longer use it as I now have an Apple TV.

Make me a sensible offer and it's yours if I can find it.

I must admit I'm interested in how you could connect an iPad to a white board to give a presentation.

Problem with a VGA cable is that you are tethered, and if you do move, then the cable is far from secure
Either connecting via Apple TV or through WiFi are the favoured methods.
