I defintely will not buy Conti again based on mine and the user reviews. never had a problem with the Speciaized the only ones that are on display in Evans Gatwick so the easiest buy without waiting an eternity for the warehouse to pick them! The Conti were an impulse buy.

Schwalbe valves are removable.
The trouble with the Conti is that even dust cap can remove it, straight out of the box. Going to glue mine but as David said the tube I took home and a split in it, didn't look like a pinch to me TBH but I would say that! The odds on me pinching two one after the other I would say is slim just because I have never pinched a tube before, unless the Race 28 is a lot thinner the the Specialized.

Never ever had a problem with Schwalbe tubes or the valves they use. I have had Specialised, Conti (yuk!), Michelin and Cheng plus others at various times. All have failed at some point and not due to puncture generally valve coming away from tube or the valve itself detaching from the neck as described here (Conti). Never again. Michelin are okish but wouldn't like to use them on a long tour as they just don't feel durable enough not like Schwalbe. Schwalbe tubes might be a tad heavier but my view is they are a millions times more reliable than all the competition which means hardly ever or far fewer occasions you are stranded at the side of a path/road in the rain at night freezing cold, trying to replace a tube so you can get home or to work.

[Anecdata]I had two visitations in two schwalbe tubes, under two separate schwalbe tyres in one night this week. (yuk!) Number of visitations over hundreds of commutes on same route using conti tubes/tyres = none. number of mystery valve failures/separations in last 4 years = none. Number of visitations on LonJOG using conti tubes and tyres = zero. Number of visitations on dozens of FNRttC rides covering 1000's km on conti tyres with conti tubes = one. Yeah, there was that time I pinch flatted when nailing it on the DownsLink on 28's on a SMRbtH but it is surfaced with flints there. [/anecdata]

Same thing happened to me, also with a Lezyne screw on pump. I just screwed the core back in and did it again, but without screwing the pump on so tightly. Worked fine. Never had any other problems with Conti tubes.
