Clear the streets of central London on Wednesday afternoon please. I don't want any of these problems you city dwellers have to deal with, like ..... errrm cars and other things with engines. Looking forward to seeing what this "RLJ" stuff is all about, and figuring out why anyone would want to attach a camera to their head.

I will be making my way from Euston station to Victoria station, so hopefully my stay in the city will be a short one ;).

Oh, and can anyone recommend any decent places in the west end area for Jamaican food? I won't have time to head down to Brixton on this occasion. There used to be a semi decent place somewhere to the north of china town, I think it might have been in Wardour Street. Off to google....

Welcome to London! Enjoy your stay in the Old Smoke!
If it's "Savannah Jerk" you're thinking of then I'm afraid it's closed and is a burger place now.

Was there 2 of them next door to each other IIRC? Jerk City being the other one? Do you happen to know if Jerk City is still in business?

Nice scenic route opportunities! Taking in Leicester Square, Shaftesbury Avenue, Nelson's column and then either

Via Buckingham Palace:

Via Houses of Parliament

Thanks for that Jezston. I prefer option 1: Would rather drop in and visit Auld Lizzie for an afternoon cuppa and chat than that useless bunch of self promoting, lying, cheating, conning gits at option 2!

Highly recommend jerk city. I was in there a few weeks ago - mid afternoon - and we were very well looked after, included being gently chided for not eating all the food - be careful ordering a starter, the servings are generous.

Real hazard in the city is pedestrians: assume anyone near the kerb who is not making eye contact with you will step in front of you. Of course, many of those looking straight at you will do it, too.

Bear in mind a couple of things on those routes though - if you aren't used to heavy traffic they can be a bit of an eye opener in places, and also you may be shocked to discover the state of the roads in our illustrious capital. Watch out for potholes!

If any of our London contingent are around at lunch time tomorrow, you are more than welcome to join a short CC ride! I will be arriving in Euston (Scotrail and Virgin trains willing  ) at 1312. I am planning to head to Jerk City in Wardour Street, Soho, for about 1345. Just for a quick takeaway lunch (not wanting to leave the bike and luggage locked up in Soho for too long). Then it would be good to follow Jezstons route via Her Majestys' city gaff, down to Victoria station. Need to be at Victoria for about 4pm for the Portsmouth train.

With no commute at the moment, not much work to do (explaining why I'm on here quite a lot recently!), I could probably do with it.

If the weather is fair and my bike is repaired by then I shall give it ago - not sure about the food though as carribean food is often not terribly veggie friendly!

Can't stress that enough. The pedestrians in London are dumb as hell. Expect them to run off the kerb, out in front of buses, over parked cars. They'd crawl underneath a lorry to cross the road if they could fit through the side crash barrier.
London is by far one of the safest places to ride a bike, is best seen on a bike and has its own charm that can only be enjoyed when riding a bike.
So, not travelled around much have you?

If you do decide to come along, I will be the lost looking bloke on a fully loaded black Tricross. I might leave the "see-you-Jimmy" hat at home!
