Today has started really well.......
It's dark, blowing a gale and the rains coming sideways when I set off for work.
Course this is taken as a direct invitation for the Puncture fairy to sneak up and visit.
Huge sliver of glass through the tyre. Never mind, off the bike, I whip the back wheel off and remove the tyre. Get one of the brand new spare tubes out of the saddle pack and change it over
Attach pump to valve stem..... and realise that the two spare tubes both have short valve stems, and my new wheels have nice semi aero rims almost the same depth. Chance of attaching pump to stem - sod all.
Ah, well I thought, I'll have to do this the hard way, and repair the tube at the road-side. Open up the emergency repair kit and realise that I'd used the last of the patches on a mates tube on the Manchester-Blackpool ride back in July and never replaced them.
Cue 3 mile walk.... in the rain.... in cleats.
Ah well, it can only get better I guess.
