The french that is !!! i did my longest ride yet to go and sort out why my old gym is still taking payments from my bank. Took 2 hours to cycle there only to find it was closed for holidays until 19th Aug !!
I didnt have a cycle lock so couldnt go into large supermarket, so thought no problem i'll stop at the small one on the return ride - that was closed for lunch until 3pm !!! Its tourist season here, with tons of UK and Belguim cars and what to the french do - They close up !!!!
ride back was a nightmare with wind driving into my face almost all the way back

Shops typically close for very long "lunches" in France. That's not a "holiday" effect. One has to do what the French do in France - c'est la vie. They will be open for a goodly time in the evening

Probably the best time to go as most of the French have buggered off on holiday
