Hi All,
I hope you are well.
My front brakes developed some creaking.
I admit I removed them once.
The noise is not all the time and develops later when I ride.
When I press the breaks it goes away but then slowly comes back.
Do I need new pads or something?

All uphill

Still rolling along

Disc, rim or canti brakes?

Any chance of some photos?

Creaking suggests something is bending or rubbing. Is that what you meant or did you mean squeaking, squealing etc when the brakes are applied? If the pads are rubbing on the disc when the brakes are not applied it may be that you need to align the callipers.

The callipers are attached to the fork with two Allen screws which allow a couple mm movement to align the pads to the disc. Loosen these a little, squeeze the lever and hold it while you tighten the bolts up.

Yes, squeaking, squealing noise.
I already did exactly what you said, applied the brakes and held while tightening the bolts.
I think I repeat this procedure.
Maybe there is some contamination?

Yep, the disc could have picked up some muck. Clean it with Iso-Propyl alcohol or brake cleaner using clean kitchen roll.
