Credit where credit is due. We do moan and rant quite readily, so I think it's worth stating that with the exception of 1 (a regular idiot), all drivers were excellent last week in the rotten road conditions.

Lots of patience, sensible overtaking. Almost makes you wish roads were rubbish more often!!

I've been back on the main road this week due to ice, but the drivers have been very sensible (except one white van). Not sure I'd like the roads to be bad more often though

I was thinking this until out cycling on Friday when it went back to the usual antics of squeezing past, cut ups on snowy icey roads! Speeding (on clear rural roads +60mph but sub zero temps)
I'm glad when I did come off there wasn't anything closely following.
Pre-Christmas driving seemed very courteous and patient, strange eh? Maybe everyone is expert enough now!

I found drivers were a lot better but at the same time I also found that there were no where near as many on the roads so a lot of the idiots probably just decided to take the days off

Only 1 commuting day last week and a longer run today, but almost all the drivers seemed to be taking extra care with their overtaking -even on the commute. One particular point I noticed today is at traffic lights, where I would just join the queue in the middle of the lane, the car behind would often sit well back to give me extra room. Though it is a different breed of drivers on a Sunday afternoon compared to the morning rush-hour.

Of course you'll be reporting this idiot each and every time so the Police might actually notice a pattern and try to catch him/her in the act...

+1... even on the 'big' A roads around here most motorists understood that you weren't there by real choice & didn't give hassle. On the country roads motorists were more cautious & gave even more space/time than normal.. but around town

As I said in another thread i have found the drivers so much better in the last week, although last Friday an idiot in a 4x4 cut me up.

I've had a terrible time out there....best day being today's commute.

Is it bravado?
Ice...look how fast I can go,I must be a good driver.

I've not been out on the bike, but have walked a lot. Have to say there were too many people travelling way too fast/too close for conditions. Witnessed one shunt and came across another.

Same here, coutesy, care and discretion and then on Friday the Muppets returned... first of all: muppet th_PICT0011a.jpg

Then another idiot driving through the hospital grounds in rutted ice with a phone clamped to his ear!

Cunobelin I have had plenty of those..and an idiot of a Clarks Coach driver.

Also in riding primary motons right up my ar53 and also a bus/Nat Exp right on my elbow at Bank when stopped at lights. No 1 route bus drivers more than once passing close on Waterloo Bridge.Caught up with one tonight just to see if my theory was right...and it was....he was just a kid.

Feel reluctant to without any witnesses, but no doubt our paths will cross again. This week's was a classic, but not for this positive thread!

+1. Only had one tit beep at me and buzz me on my Wednesday bike ride when the roads were completely covered in snow and very dangerous.

Yesterday, in the car, was nearly crashed into by a chav trying to overtake me at speed - he hit sheet ice and started spinning all over the place - missed my driver's side wing by millimetres.

Cycling while it snowed (London) last week was a dream...cold and frozen face but drivers were actually sticking to speed limits and being really careful when overtaking cyclists. Though I'm not liking the ice or the return of bad driving as the ice melts.
