from the description:

The alternative to Critical Mass does not use corking, stops for red lights, uses hand signals, and helmets are mandatory.

I did enjoy the critical mass I went on, but I reckon this critical manners would actually show cyclists off better, breaking down sterotypes of red light jumping and not paying attention/no signals, etc.

Anyone fancy starting one in London? :birthday:

It does look boring doesn't it lol.

I think it would be better to sabotage C.M from within! Send in the polite riders to sabotage it!!

Honestly, I only watched the first 30 seconds before I got distracted by some paint drying on the wall.

Quite a lot to disagree with there...

CM is a convoy, it is pretty vital to keep it all together or it becomes chaos and quite dangerous. Corking stops people from pulling into the convoy from side roads and then getting stuck. Stuck drivers can get scared/angry and do something stupid...

The front of CM does stop for lights. But once the convoy has gone past a light it will not stop if it goes back to red because the convoy needs to keep as one...

Hand signals are pretty pointless for a CM, the ride takes up the whole road...

Helmets are not mandatory in UK law, and how they would help in a 4mph ride I don't know...

More effective at 4mph than say, 25 to 30mph I would expect.

On 2nd thoughts better not risk another helmet debate:ohmy:

Vancouver seems quite a nice city to cycle if that's anything to go by, decent-ish smooth wide roads, proper cycle lanes, laid back pace, and even - shock horror - a friendly motorist asking them what they were doing. Everyone over here just seems in such a damn hurry to be somewhere...More like bloody cyclists gggrrr...shouldn't be on the roads get outta the way etc here.

Another brilliant idea from the americans, just change the title, and go slower than 5mph.

The guy in the car asks the cyclist "what is this sir"? critical manners. O.K then...he did look a bit baffled to what the hell was going on. Not a big turn out though, boring.

In common usage, America is considered to be the USA. The other countries in continental America regard themselves as separate from the USA and prefer not to be known as americans. Ask any Canadian if they are american and you will get a sharp negative response.

On the contrary. every Canadian I know, which includes a substantial number of people in my family, get extremely annoyed at people from the USA for assuming the use of the term "American" is exclusive to them.

All the Canadians I've met would agree with that.
