don't worry,. it will all probably stop at Tower Hill

London doesnt go any further as far as Boris is concerned

Other key elements of the Mayor’s 10-year vision include:

•Rebuilding the Victoria Embankment between Big Ben and Blackfriars to create a fully segregated two-way bike lane

•Launching a study into banning large lorries from central London at certain times

•20mph zones on main roads at Waterloo, Camberwell and New Cross Gate

•Creating “Quietway” routes through residential streets that follow Tube lines or key bus routes

•Linking the Quietways and existing and proposed cycle superhighways in a “Central London Grid”

•Introducing Dutch-style cycling measures in up to three boroughs to create “mini Netherlands”

•Redesigning the capital’s most dangerous junctions such as Elephant and Castle, Blackfriars, Vauxhall and Swiss Cottage

•Allowing bikes on the DLR off-peak

•Encouraging children to cycle to school

•Trialling electric hire bikes in a hilly location without access to a Tube station.

They could add another element to this to make cycling a bit safer, i.e. enforcing existing traffic laws regarding RLJ'ing (by vehicles and cycles), the use of those stupid ASL's and mobile phone use while driving. Every single stretch of road I cycle down in Central London there's someone up to no good, doing something clearly illegal and I rarely see anyone do anything about it.

It wouldn't cost anything like £913m to sort all that out with a few extra police on the beat.

I actually rode past Boris on embankment once. He was a bit all over the shop tbh. I wouldn't have had a chance if it was in a segregated lane and would have been stuck behind him all the way from Temple to Big Ben.

For 900 mill i'd have thought you could re structure cycleways across the uk's ten biggest citys!!
I know Liverpool would welcome some investment in cycleways.
As long as this remains optional it's a very good thing.
The route may be optional, my concern is that it will be "de-lycrafy'. What us MAMIL's supposed to do ?

I don't like this "de-lycrafy" bullshit. Again it re-enforces to typical mindset of motorists that all lycra wearers are tosser for holding them up by riding primary , etc.

ALL cyclists deserve safer roads to ride on.

I do thinks that his plans are actually good, although a north/south passage would be good. Edgware/Hendon, Barnet/Finchley to Marble arch needs a safer route. Finchley Rd & Edgware Road are not the safest roads and crossing the North Circular is like playing russian roulette.

I'm still in 2 minds about 2 way segregated cycleways. Tourists on Boris bikes riding like tw@ts is my main concern.
