Glad it's sorted. I'm with AOL, but have bugger all to do with their customer service as I don't use their software either. They keep giving me faster and faster broadband, for less and less money - suits me. Hope I don't need customer services though.

Welcome back CB, if it is 'back'! Just for info, BT internet are no paragons of perfection, either! I got a message last December saying, broadband being upgraded, oodles of extra speed, etc. etc..... What happened was that for days after the supposed 'upgrade' my Broadband ground to almost a standstill, virtually useless, couldn't watch youtube, listen to audio, zilch. I phoned to complain. After making me go through the 'usual' tests (is my home hub plugged in? etc. etc.), they eventually told me just to 'be patient, it'll all sort itself out in ten days'...

Well, two months later, it's back to normal speed most of the time, but it still occasionally snarls up to walking pace.

I reckon they need a new string between their baked-beans tins.....

I have AOL and have to be honest I found them very easy to get on with and very helpful. They even phone me every now and again and tell me they are reducing my payments. I think I pay about £4 a month now for broadband and telephone calls (free landline calls any time).

I called the customer service the other week to set up my router to the new lap top as it was playing up. It took 2 calls 1st one they thought it may be one problem and would take a day to update 2nd the next day changed a couple of settings and it was up and running. couldnt be easier.

I used to be with them when internet was dial up. when i left them to go NTL broadband ( yes I know ) it took a reformat to remove all traces of AOL from my computers.

I hate them

BT Broadband isn't that great either (better than AOL though)! I think only Orange & Talk Talk rival AOL in terms of being really awful....

After the hassles I had with BT (phoning their customer & technical support was like banging your head against a brick wall) I decided to try signing up with a broadband supplier that didn't tie you to a 12-month contract. I ended up choosing Zen, I pay a bit more per month, but if I have any problems I can simply switch to another supplier as I'm not locked into a contract, and their customer support is terrific so haven't thought about switching since.

When Tiscali were taken over by talk talk I moved to Demon because of the bad service

AOL have just been taken over by talk talk

I've found Demon's service excellent..........Their call centres are in Scotland.

I moved away from Tiscali last April, after a request for service in February hadn't been responded to. They still haven't called me back! Demon's broadband worked fine on the line the others couldn't fix.

I still have some Freeserve addresses!
