if it was the waterproof board from places like topps tiles then you can indeed cut it with a wood saw. then throw the wood saw away when project complete because will be blunt, unless you have an old wood saw you can resharpen and set.

It did cut with a saw better than I thought, I'm just glad its done now.

This is what I used to cut hardiebacker boards when I revamped our bathroom, snapped easily. Used a fine mist spray and damp sponge to keep the dust down. Excellent for tiling floors or walls.
