Anyone recommend a basic wireless cycle computer had one years ago never bothered for a long time thought I would try one again perhaps there is something that can be fastened to the bike and linked to my phone that doesn't rely on GPS because the app on my phone that uses GPS kills the battery no good when your out for the day and want to take photos ,text, etc ,not bother about strava or that sort of thing .

I’ve got the Cateye commuter one to sell if interested. I’d need to dig it out (might need batteries as well as cable ties)
Thanks for the offer but I think I will get a new one

or just use your smartphone and record with Strava?
I've done the rounds of using Garmins, power metres, heart rate monitors and now just use Strava app. It can show speed.
I found that focusing on heart rate, speed, cadence actually distracted me from the ride. I have the phone on the handlebars or in my jersey pocket.

just saying...before you splash the cash

I have a basic wired cateye on my bike, if I want to record a ride I use the Ride With GPS app on my phone, I just tap the go ride button in the app then save the ride at the end.
