Hi, Can anyone recommend a good, quick cycle route from Elm Park to London Bridge? Thanks
From Elm Park, I would head towards the A13 and take the cycle path that eventually becomes CS3 near Barking. I'm not sure of the best direct route from Elm Park as I'm not sure how long the path continues east but coming from Dagenham I'd head through Becontree and down Lodge Avenue until you reach the A13 and use the crossings to get to the cycle path on the other side. You might want to check the route before you go as it's quite easy to get lost when the path reaches the end of the A13 and you have to take a bit of a weird route through private land.
The path improves considerably once you reach the blue paint and will take you all the way to Tower Gateway where you can either cross Tower Bridge or continue further on past the Tower and cross at London Bridge. I'm sure somebody can advise you which of these options is best.
From Elm Park go to Upper Rainham Road (A125) , turn right at the Newtons Corner roundabout towards Dagenham, (cycle lane), then at the Bull rounadbout take the first exit and then immediate right onto Church Lane. Then just keep following this road, straight over lights at Dagenham Heathway, (into Hedgeman Road), keep straight over mini roundabouts, (into Woodward road), past Becontree station until you get to the T junction. Turn left into Lodge Avenue follow along to the roundabout onto the A13. I then go over the roundabout, (there are ped / cycle crossings), and head onto the cyclepath which then merges into CS3. There is a slightly shorter route by turning left just past the mini roundabout at Becontree, into Stamford Road which uses a 1-way cycle lane for part of the route, but be careful as occasionally cars do travel the wrong direction. This is part of my commute route so happy to cycle with you to show you the route if we can work out a time.
Finally completed the trip today and I really enjoyed riding the BMC. (My first road bike :-). ) On the way to work, I went through Church Lane and it was not too bad. (maybe because i left 6am so not much traffic) And then went onto Woodward Lane, Lodge Avenue and then A13. When i got to Canning town, i sort of lost my way a bit, but another cyclist kindly pointed me on the route, CS3 to tower gateway, and then i went through tower bridge, onto Long Lane. All in all its about 15 miles and I did it in just under 1hr 20mins which is not too bad considering its a new route and first time I'd ridden such a distance. On the way home i went through Goresbrook Road, off the A13 and again, route was pretty straightforward.Hope if goes well, new bike and the route. Enjoy.
I'm thinking of doing this route but ending near Liverpool street from hornchurch. Do you have a link to your rout on Google or map my ride please?
