So there we have it, only 2% of people who responded to the idea of taxing bike users as part of the consultation into how to take forward a Cycling Action Plan for Scotland (CAPS), agreed with the idea. So the "cycling road tax" will not be coming to Scotland, not that it ever was...

I wonder if the Scottish government intend to bring in a 'road tax' for other road users such as cars and trucks now that they have a recommendation not to introduce it for bikes.

I don't think there was ever an intention to introduce a bike tax, it was just a way of getting responses...

HJ, Thanks for forwarding this. It made interesting reading and to be honest, it was surprisingly reassuring that the issues were identified and then addressed in a sensible manner. Thankfully, the classic anti-cycling vitriol was missing and instead was replaced with a balanced and considered approach. There is some hope with the Scottish Government and cycling development.

A cycling quango in receipt of government cash asks cyclists and public in general whether they would be in favour of taxing cyclists. Only 2% say yes.

Ask another question to the same people. Would you be willing to pay more tax to the Government? 98% (2% are loons) say no. Who would have thunk it :biggrin:?
