I use a tool storage bottle for things like multi tool, inner tubes and tyre plugs (when riding the bike set up tubeless). Fits in a standard bottle cage.

for work the big question is room for mudgaurds and a pannier rack mounting points

Yeah, if actually being used for all weather commuting, full mudguards (not the clip on jobs) are essential.

Pannier racks a bit less important as some people prefer rucksacks, though I am mystified as to why!

But the OP doesn't say what he's planning to use the bike for. Most C2W bikes aren't used for C2W...
