Yes, you can have two bikes, as long as the value doesn't exceed the £1k.

so if i can get specialized in the cycle to work scheme i could have a secteur and a crosstrail and pay the extra £75 myself???

You could, although bear in mind that for any bike bought under the scheme, the majority of trips are expected to be to and from your place of work.

Employers (especially large ones) probably won't let you pay a top-up though, in view of the complications brought about as a result of joint ownership.

I believe you can purchase 2. The example I was given was Bike 1 for 'home - > Tube station A' and then Bike 2 for 'Tube station B -> Office'.
The joint ownership at my place is a no-no though, t'is a big firm.

I'm waiting on my vouchers now, the bike is being built and the extras fitted on Jan 4th. Not long to wait now!

Maybe i'll just spend the full 1k on a cube cross race instead and keep my felt hybrid as the N+1
