I was reading this blog post and wonder how many here actually enjoy their commute? I know that I generally do, even the though the cycle facilities are less than good.

Well, I cant really vote here as I don't use my bike to commute...0.73 miles door to door hardly seems worth it!

I do often think I'd like to cycle if I lived further from work, but I do get very frustrated with our fellow road users!

I look forward to one day having the opportunity, but feel I will also have a nervous breakdown!

Love it. What ever the weather. So much so in fact that every day, rain or shine I extend my commute by 5 miles each way. If for any reason I can't cycle to work I am not a happy bunny.

Previous to this week I adored it for all the common reasons.

I advocated it to several people at work, and a few of them now cycle in and share in the delight

This week however, I had a collision with an oncoming moped as he turned across me into a side road. Ouch.

Tonight a driver nearly pulled out on me. A bus almost squashed me, and a highly impatient driver behind me beeped and swerved at me to intimidate it, after which I got into an almighty row with him.

This has all left me rather miffed, and to be honest it's going from the best thing I ever did, to something that I'm just not sure about - from a safety perspective.

The problem I find, is that no matter how careful I cycle, there's always some idiot on the road that sometimes ruins it.

So for me, when it's good, it's really good, and when it's bad, it's really bad.

Mostly yes I do it because I enjoy it, but there is the odd morning when cycling uphill (everywhere is uphill from Granton) in pi$$ing rain/ sleet, it feels like a pain but overall that is overidden by the benefits I know about: cost, health, convenience, etc and I keep on comming back for more.

Riding the bike is a joy, My commute is only 5 miles but if it can be stretched a bit then all the better

Lets be honest going into work this week totally soaked after stretching the 5 miles into 20 and watching everyones face as i walk in and they can't believe someone would enjoy doing that to themselves is priceless.

I cycle as much as I can to work and back. And I try to get out at least once a week to do about 18miles or so for fun.

well, so far enjoying it

had bike for 6 weeks now,, up till today, only cycled halfway ( bolton -> manchester) due to being utterly unfit ;).. (maybe 2 or 3 times a week , bloomin fair weather cyclists ;) )

but today,, first 13miles there, and 13 back.. 90% enjoyed it,,, but they seem to have moved bolton further away this afternoon..

and for the last 2 miles not only was i knackered,, but them pesky car drivers suddenly seemed to be doing naughty things . ( which i attribute almost entirely to my mood getting worse ;) )..

so yeah, i enjoy it,, though i would like to oscillate my route a bit..

as for drivers being idiots,, i think i see the same amount , if not more, when i'm driving to work tbh than cycling...

so pleasure for me

Given the alternatives, yes! I also find I don't mind the rain given good waterproof clothing. The thing that does really get me is a headwind though, and cycling in gusty weather is not fun either.

Absolutely love it. I hate when I have to take the car. There is a possibility that my job could be changing in a few months time, and my only concern about that is, will I still be able to cycle commute!
