Cycling as a form of rehabilitaion.

Hello,

I am new to this forum and after a short look around I realise it is exactly what I was looking for. I have recently returned to cycling after many years of life getting in the way; marriage, jobs, career, son etc. My reason for returning to cycling was for rehabilitation and strength building following three years of battling with oesophageal cancer. I have now had four major operations but find cycling is the most perfect form of exercise. It is non impact and I love being able to get out and about in the countryside. Life is very different for me now and I appreciate being able to cycle and thoroughly enjoy the feeling of escapism and achievement cycling can bring. Being physically able to cycle for 50 miles and being in amongst some of Britain's most spectacular scenery is always going to be satisfying to me now.

Please take a look at my website, which details my battle over the last three years and let me know your honest thoughts. What information and topics could I include and what's good or bad bout it. It's a new site and I'd love to have everyone's comments. Thank you.

Hi Martin and welcome to the site, very insparational site you have there and I fully understand about the twisted bowel and the slightly naughty language this causes one to use (like oh dear this hurts a tad etc) but it seems that you are not letting this stop you and the very best for your future rides and health.

Hi, if you are in East Dunbartonshire there is a healthy number of CC Ecosse rides in various parts of the central belt, always good to meet new people - check out the informal rides section if you fancy a group ride anytime. Regards, Mark

Thank you. I'm glad you like both the website and the scenery. It is partly the scenery that makes me love cycling so much. I find I appreciate the scenery more from a bike than from within a car. Please keep an eye on my website since I now intend to be posting more regular updates now that I'm over the worst part of my recovery phase following my latest op.

I will, thank you. I'm hoping to be back on my bike in the next few weeks but it will be very slow and short distances at first but I'd love to join in in a few months perhaps.

:welcome: again Martin :hello:

As @Fubar said, if you can get yourself along to a Ecosse CC ride one day, they are fun and you get to meet loads of new people ^_^

Just as a helping hand to, you can multi-reply to various people at a time just by pressing 'reply' next to people you want to reply to instead of having to reply to each person
