I should imagine theres lots of cycling bus drivers, but we only hear the blathermouths.

Meh, bus drivers get a lot of criticism thrown at them and while I can't speak for all drivers I have found the vast majority of them friendly and helpful. When I first started cycling in Edinburgh I had an irrational fear of buses. However now, a few months later, it turns out that they are largely safe and helpful drivers. The only drivers to look out for are the out of town coach drivers - they can be a little crazy much live anyone else driving in an unfamiliar place.

I find most bus drivers to be very good, but there are some really terrible ones. At least cabbies are consistent...

Its been said before but Lothian Bus drivers are great much more aware of everyone :-)

Used the 'park and ride' buses to get into Oxford plenty of times the last few years and have always been really impressed with the drivers with regards to cyclists,anything that builds a cyclist-bus driver relationship can only be a good thing.

nearly all buses on my route are very good, black cabs likewise, the old fashioned impatient furious ones seem to have almost disappeared

I'm starting training to be a bus driver a week today (Monday), and am a keen cyclist, work-wise and occasionally recreational. In Derby, i've seen that most bus drivers are quite respectful of cyclists, only had a couple of close passes and have even got a series of fantastic overtakes by one driver in a row which i'm trying to send off to the company (but the clips are either too long or the company can't view them grrrr).

I'll definetly be able to see it from both sides.

Conversely I've had one driver of a Trent Barton 'One' bus disciplined and currently have another investigation ongoing with an Arriva 29 driver, in both cases I was almost crushed / driven off the road by Derby bus drivers!

I'm sorry to read that Jeztston, i see none of them are perfect. Hope they didn't cause you too much alarm.
