Rejecting the automobile.Sounds good to me.

I was there last week, it was lovely.

Tell you something weird though, OT, sorry. I was in a smoking room in a bar and a chap came through to go to the toilet. He stopped and looked at me skinning up and said:

"Hey, you lika da schmoke, ya?"

I agreed and he toddled off, I finished up a few minutes later and walked out past the bloke and his mates and they were all English! Wtf?

I'm sure I saw someone in that clip without a hemlet!!

I did notice though that everyone was riding very slowly. I have a 10 mile commute and it would take me all day at that speed.

I saw one fellow wearing earphones!! Stone him, reckless fool!!

East London to central so yes, pretty much - maybe 80%?
In which case I would think the time would be similar but best of all in Amsterdam it is completely stress free. Most of the cycle paths are really wide in any case, when we were there we often got to the towns and cities at rush hour and believe me it was a weird experience, no one was trying to race anyone else, it was a case of just enjoying. It's why we are going back again next year.

Great video.

When I was there in the summer, I have no idea how slow I was pottering around the city centre sightseeing and enjoying the atmosphere, but getting there and back from Zuid-Oost, it was about 7.5 miles in 45mins in the rain on a heavy hired dutch bike during the rush hour, and that included time for stopping to take pictures, looking at maps, getting lost and backtracking and stopping for snacks. And in a Top Gear style race my parents going by public transport beat me to the Van Gogh museum by only a couple of minutes.

TFL take note - we don't need Hi Viz, we don't need helmets, we can wear headphones and we don't need massive amounts of motor vehicles!
It was great watching the young boy Pascal (?) riding his bike along like that without any worries.

When we will wake up and do this?

I love the fact that everyone was going back and forth in "normal" clothes and that controlled chaos looks fun, much more relaxed than anything here.

Don't tell me I cannot be done, it can! Love it!

Yes, yes it is...
However it may give the UK/TFL planners a panic attack... when's the next flight?

Indeed, UK cyclists would have to step up their game considerably to make it work here.
