Now, this is a new one on me, having just got into this game.....the need to look like the stereotypical race roadie....(Wiggins etc...), or simply just to avoid looking like a grandad out for a snail trail. Just how do you go about getting a size for these things ??? I've ordered two and they are SO small !! (even when LARGE was the size of choice!).....Are they supposed to be tight on you?

P.S. I'm normally a medium in a T-Shirt !

Get Polaris or Altura, sensibly sized, equivalent to a fitted T shirt. Avoid anything ‘race’ or ‘form’fit, especially Italian brands like Castelli, Ale etc

Yes a race jersey is supposed to be tight, but you can wear looser!

Once you get the know a brand you know what fits. Can be hard when you start I found looking at what others said in the reviews.
Helped and some do give size charts and they are worth checking.

@Milzy is right make sure you measure your chest properly.
Once you know your size you don't need to avoid any you can have a few of both fit's.
Another good thing about getting to know what fits you right is ebay has plenty bargains around.

If you want a looser fit the "Ridge" jerseys in Halfords are generously sized. I know this because I have Alan Partridge Toblerone phases. When I'm doing well I'm a Pearl Izumi large. Right now I'm a Ridge XL kind of cyclist.

After 18 months of riding the bike and finally getting an average speed in double figures I thought I'm a cyclist now and need the road bike look for my hybrid! I bought a bleeding cycling jersey. Stood in front of the mirror and thought "I ain't going out in that".
Happy to look like grandad and wear normal gear 😀

I get all my stuff from Dhgate in China. It is tight fitting but that is what you want, especially in the shorts / bibs. Did 70 mile the other day in my five year old £7 bibs still as comfortable as they were when new.

I have a thing about paying silly money for clothing, just like some won't pay for Strava I won't pay for a "label" on clothes.
I've tried DH gate and it's awful itchy rubbish. You get what you pay for but if it works for you then great.

Five year old bibs is funny. Especially at £7. If you buy the best luxury bibs in the whole world after a few years the pad won't be the same. I'd rather tape some bubble wrap to the seat.

Just shows us that we are all different, different tastes, different opinions, it'd be boring if we all liked the same things.
I decided to keep the smallish ones and have a ride in them....tight, but probably manageable.

I think we should create a post to show photo's our cycling attire pre-ride....who's up for that ??
