Been said many a time but I had proof of it last night on my commute home from work (hence posting here). I was waiting at some lights and a motorbike pulled alongside me and we got into conversation. The lights are on a hill and I commented that he would be able to get away quicker than me. His response was that it would not be a problem for a "fit, young person like you."

Now it was dark and the guy was in leathers and a motorbike helmet but he would guess he was in his mid-thirties, possibly pushing forty. Me - I am not going to see my fortieth birthday again in this re-incarnation and in fact am not far off hitting the big 5 0.

Having some bloke in his thirties thinking I am young, well that made my ride home perfect.... .

The subject of ages came up at the work according to one bloke, I must be at least 26; I'm actually nearly 33; so I don't know if that's a compliment or not

I like to think I look younger than I am - certainly, when you look at some of the fat, pasty-faced, bald folks at work who I thought were almost at retirement and who turn out to be younger than me, I'd say I've worn quite well over the last 41 years and 9 months !

My daughter used to embarrass me all the time by asking her friends how old they thought I was and telling them I didn't look my age. This was when I was in my late 40's. Late 50's now and she doesn't do it anymore.
So my question is..........why not?? Have the last 10 years been really awful to me?
