Does any cycle when they are ill. Such as a cold, flu, or something else?

And is there positives and negatives to doing this?

At the moment I have a cold. Head aches, aches all over the body, feeling cold and hot at times, sore throat and weakness. I cycled to work on Wednesday back and forth but I made it there in once piece. I added an extra 30min to my journey.

Above the neck ok if you can, below the neck, a no no until recovered. Do not cycle if on your chest

Sounds like man flu, fluids, rest, paracetamol

+1 for above.

I believe there have been some endurance athletes who have damaged their hearts by putting them under too much pressure from exercising while suffering from a chest infection.

There are days when I've cycled whilst under the weather and I've realised either during or at the end that my brain wasn't really up to the job required to be fully alert to potential hazards.

What did you do. Did you ride back home or leave it back at work and get alternative transport back?

Normally cycle home at the end of the day telling myself I must remember not to do it again!:whistle:
But I have certainly misread the road situation as a consequence of feeling unwell (I'm the sort that tries to drag myself into work anyway), and one time I may end up having an accident as a result. Do take it into consideration whether you think you are mentally fit for the journey!

Leave the bike for a few says, rest, recover, or it'll take longer

Men would have you believe that man flu can be fatal

Oh and well done you for taking it to work and sharing it with your colleagues

thats one thing I hate about the work culture in the UK . if you take time off whan ill you get aggravation for it , yet we should not be going in if ill. for the reason above and also for the main reason of needing to get better .

have been off the bike for a week now as feeling run down and chesty after last weeks pollution levels. that and run down from project close which is always a manic time . looking forward to being off on leave till tuesday after easter from 17.00 today.

If I have a cold I usually keep riding, but I usually get away with mild symptoms. However I had a cold week before last that really wiped me out. Decided to take the bus instead and have a week off, my thighs are really feeling it now though, and I only cycled 2.5 days this week!
Am quite pleased that it only took me 3/4 days to recover, and my colleague (who gave me the cold) was ill for 2 weeks.
