Thats a total joke, something that size (or any size) should never come of a lorry, the o-license holder should lose his license and the driver should too. Securing your load should be the first thing the driver does, to have that sitting on a flatbed trailer without chains or straps securing it is a disgrace. (presuming there was no tethers as tethers correctly fastened would not have came loose)

That's horrible especially when it is sheer negligence

Never liked riding that route in Hull, was clipped by a strap (or something else sticking out, was too quick and shoved me luckily to my left) from a trailer of a lorry further along on Hedon Road once, not pleasant at all.

Don't expect top quality reporting from the Hull Daily Fail...

Its a route I don't cycle, there is a quieter street not too far away with a better way (for me) of getting into the city centre. The position of the container makes it look like it wouldn't have mattered if the poor woman had been walking on the pavement - the result may have been the same.

I actually wrote and complained about the HDM reporting last year after an exceptionally poor report on a road death and the traffic problems it had caused, the death being very much secondary to someones loved one being killed. The link I posted is actually an improvement on that one.

The Yorkshire Post's reporting is even worse, I don't know how they dare use that headline.

The local TV news was shocking as well, when they passed to the reporter on the scene the very first thing he talked about was the traffic jam, and then they showed three interviews with motorists who had been held up. All saying the usual stuff about traffic queues being shocking, no warning, blah blah, but none of them mentioned an accident at all, so I wonder if they were interviewed before they knew the cause. If they weren't told the reason before they agreed to speak on camera then that's a bit sneaky of the BBC, they all came off looking very insensitive, whinging about having to sit in their cars for an extra hour while meanwhile some poor woman had died.

Very sad.
