Every so often, someone gets them self into trouble by bragging that they've knocked a cyclist over. Which is bad enough.

But today's cyclist hating twitter user @OBWilson apparently didn't knock a cyclist over at all, according to South Yorkshire police.

Why would you claim to have run a cyclist over if you hadn't?
Because he's currently disqualified by magistrates on a drink driving conviction? Somebody tweeted me a photo of the letter that the child foolishly posted on Facebook.

Bright of him. Emma certainly showed how to get an easy 15 minutes of fame, that may do a lifetimes damage. The worrying thing is others are copying her. How long until someone is killed & it gets tweeted/put on twitter/facebook?

It's a bit silly blaming Twitter for people being idiots. And in any case, it's quite easy, even if you are on Twitter, never to see this kind of worthless stuff. It's not like you are obliged to read it, any more than you are forced to read The Daily Mail if you don't want to.

I have an account, but I don't get it either. Can't see the attraction at all
Get someone (an adult!) who knows to explain it to you.
There is garbage on Twitter just as there is in newspapers, radio and tv, but I find it useful for keeping abreast of affairs in my own fields of interest and it's easy to avoid the inanities. Users can choose to 'read only', no one is required to expose their innermost thoughts^_^

Edit. I was typing at the same time as FM:smile:

I can never find anything. Dunno about getting an adult to explain it - probably better off finding the nearest 5 year old!!

I believe (and hope) the fact reasonably articulate cyclists are challenging these thugs at point of broadcast is starting to get the message across that we won't be messed about. By then passing the tweet along quite impressive lines of communication between followers and giving the offending oxygen thief / pillock more exposure than they ever hoped for (and the wrong type), it shows them that if they play with fire, then they are the ones going to get burnt.

I am an occasional twitterer, but I stopped for a while as it seemed like all I was doing was telling stupid people that their threats to run cyclists over were pathetic.

Double or triple negative?
I think you've just said you hate those who are against those who hate cyclists, so essentially saying you support those who are anti-cyclists?

I think...

Are they haters who are anti-cyclist or people who hate those who are anti-cyclist?

Maybe I am a hater of haters who are anti-cyclist haters?

Anyway, it seems to me that it requires serious vigilance and a certain amount of savvy to use social media without gifting crims and fraudsters with all they need for their nefarious activities.
