I remember in the 70s coming across a smashed up Austin Maxi, one embarrassed son and his extremely angry father. The son had driven it down the hill near our house, skidded and smashed across a traffic island and ended up on the pavement, leaving a large part of the bottom of the engine and gearbox lying in a pool of oil. I felt for him.

Errr ... looking at the state of the car, I reckon he may have been going ever so slightly faster than the posted limit ... ! Only just though. Perhaps a couple of mph over, you never know ...
